Learning by Doing

Our methods focus on cases, presented within simulations. Trainees make decisions, and see the consequences of their decisions. There are a considerable number of online learning platforms. None of them have the ability to provide Socratic-style learning techniques.

Trainees receive 4 types of coaching:

  • Their decisions are reviewed after they manage a situation (“After-action review")
  • If they execute a dangerous act, they are corrected immediately
  • If they don’t do anything, they are nudged into taking a reasonable action
  • If they ask “what should they do next?” they are given hints

We partner with simulation companies to produce training for any environment

  • Reveal pain points that are relevant to training and assessment
  • The domains to invest in training other than transmission grid operations
  • To do so, what would you want and need to see?

InnoSys uses cognitive science principles to address training the workforce of the future. The cognitive science principles we use include:

  • Situated Cognition – Training is embedded in simulations
  • Adaptive Coaching – Performance is assessed and coaching is tied to how operators need to improve
  • Interactive Coaching – Coaching leverages Socratic dialogues
  • Focused attention – The learning environment minimizes extraneous cognitive load
